My Kali VM is connecting via wired Ethernet instead of wireless?

Post by Pito0123 »

Hi my name is Santiago I am new to VM's. I am currently taking a wireless class and I have was previously able to use wireless either just using my computers adapter or my usb connected adapter(Atheros AR9271) But all of a sudden in the connections on the top right section it shows up as wired. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

If you are using the Virtualbox network adapter set in the guest's Network settings, that network will always only be wired, even if your computer is connected via Wi-Fi. VirtualBox's virtual adapters are all wired adapters.

The only way a guest can see a Wi-Fi adapter is with a USB Wi-Fi adapter, like your Atheros. Carefully go through USB basics and troubleshooting. If you finish all the steps 1-7 and cannot get your USB device into the guest OS, carefully post the outputs of the commands in step 8 as text in

tags, not screenshots. Zip and post the log step 8 calls for, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
