Trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 guest on a Win 10 host from a downloaded ISO file. The install proceeds normally and all is well until a shutdown of Ubuntu. On the next boot, the Welcome screen appears again asking whether to try or to install Unbuntu. None of my changes to Ubuntu were saved even though I installed Ubuntu, the activity is as if I was only trying it i.e. operating from the disk.

VM has 4 GB of RAM and 21 GB of disk space allocated. the VM log file is attached. The name of the machine is UbuntuVB

Am I doing something wrong?

Remove the install CD from the guest's CD drive when you have completed the full install. Linux installer CDs don't have the 'Press any key to boot from CD..." that Windows has.

I would if I could .. I installed Ubuntu from a downloaded file which now resides in my Downloads folder. Perhaps I should just change the location?

In the guest's main window that the guest OS appears on, go to the Devices menu, Optical Drives, Remove disk from virtual drive.
