Notebook Screen Dims when Guest starts

Post by dwaller9 »

I am running VirtualBox 2.0 on OpenSuse 11 x86_64 on a Thinkpad T61 with dual display using xrandr. When I start a guest the screen on the notebook dims and the controls for it only go to half brightness. When the guest is shutdown the brightness returns.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Did you try to increase the brightness after the VM was loaded when the VM had focus (keyboard grabbed) and without focus (keyboard released, better to minimize it)? Maybe xrandr can increase the screen brightness.

It seems that if I adjust brightness before the VirtualBox session starts it does not dim the screen and I can adjust it after VirtualBox is running.
