how to get paste to android guest on windows host

I installed android 8 vm as other linux. it can not run vm additions.
even though I can set paste from host on the vm, paste from host is not possible
host edition is 5.2.12 r122591(Qt5.6.2)
what can I do? upgrade host?
overall the host edition is stable for all windows vm I used
