DD not recognised during the installation of windows XP

Post by Jokiller »

Hi,
I am experiencing a problem when I launch VirtualBox to install Windows xp professional, the following message appear "Le programme d'installation n'a détécté aucun lecteur de disque dur installé."
" The setup program didn't detect any hard drive reader installed"

If someone can help me on this would be great !

Thanks !

What installation medium do you have? Where is it ? It should be either a an ISO file or a DVD.

If it is an ISO file on the host, assign that file to to the optical drive of the vm.

If it is a DVD, put it in the host's DVD drive, then in the settings of the vm, tell it to use the host's DVD drive as shown below.

Click on the blue disk at the right of this display and select Host Drive.

Also, make sure that a virtual hard drive is present in the VM, and attached to an IDE controller, because an XP installer will not recognize SATA.
