Cannot Boot Kali After Running Out of Space During Update

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Linux. I know Kali is not the easiest distro to learn on.

After having successfully imported the latest iso for Kali 2020.1 into VirtualBox, I launched successfully and was updating and upgrading and installing tor, when I ran out of space it paused.

After freeing up space, I started VirtualBox, went through GRUB, and essentially I end up at a black screen that constantly resizes the window and a cursor periodically appears and disappears.

There were a couple of different errors in the process leading up to that but I didn't get a chance to read.

Please see zipped log file. Hopefully it tells the tale!

Cheers,
JS

The log shows a lot of screen-size toggling, but I don't see it showing a crash as such. Others will see different...

I think you need to pretend that Virtualbox is not involved and google/solve this directly in the guest OS. Try "Linux out of disk space wont reboot" or some such.

All that Virtualbox can do is get you a bigger virtual disk. Find the drive file in the Virtual Media Manager, slide the slider to the desired size etc, then use Gparted in the guest OS to adjust partitions.
