Xubuntu 6.06 in Kubuntu 8.04 full screen issue

Hi,

I can manually set the resolution I want in xorg.conf, but if I set it smaller when I switch to full screen the resolution won't change. The screen would center and all the outer area would be black.

Any thoughts?

The GA are installed you say, but is the X server also using the vboxvideo driver? You don't state the version of VB, but if it's 1.6.x or newer, you should also have seamless as option. If you don't, then it isn't using the correct driver.

Thanks for responding. Yes, X server is using vboxvideo. Version 2.0.2

I can manually set the resolution to the one I want, but the thing is I have two screens with TwinView and one is 1280x1024 while the other is 1444x900, so I'd like it to be able to adapt accordingly (it does with Windows XP).

If you want to run a resolution of 1024x768 in the Guest on your 1280x1024 monitor, it will indeed show borders. The reason for this is that VB needs to resize the Host resolution too if you don't want the borders. This is not possible atm.

Hmm, well, what I really want is that it can run at 1444x900 (full screen) on my laptop. That resolution doesn't work even if I put it in the xorg.conf, thus I put 1200x800.

The thing is I expected to be able to have full screen when I told virtualbox to do so, but instead I get the same screen size centered in a black frame.

With Windows XP this problem does not happen. Virtualbox will show it full screen.

Problem solved.

I read somewhere that I could try setting video memory (in the VM's settings) to 32. That did the trick.
