The latest Windows 10 Pro Insider (19582.rs_prerelease.200306-1640) broke Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.38.vbox-extpack ability to display full screen (1920 x 1080) ... and background is black
Best display size available is 1400 x 1050
I hope there's another release of VBox 5.2 that addresses this issue
Display won't go full screen VBox 5.2.38

No, it didn't.BasilRathbone wrote:The latest Windows 10 Pro Insider (19582.rs_prerelease.200306-1640) broke Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.38.vbox-extpack ability to display full screen (1920 x 1080) ... and background is black
That is because fullscreen mode is a function of the Guest Additions, not the host extension pack, which mainly provides USB2/USB3 hardware emulation.

Sorry for not knowing or understanding where "Guest Additions" actually reside, mpack
Regardless, the latest Windows Preview release DID break the video display capabilities of VBox 5.2.38

Guest Additions comes with Virtualbox. While the guest is running, go to the guest's Virtualbox window's Devices menu, Insert Guest Additions CD Image. If the guest OS doesn't autorun the installer, go to the guest's CD drive and run it manually.

Re: Display won't go full screen VBox 5.2.38
Thank you scottgus1.
I did that several times to no avail.
My guess is MS doesn't recognize or honor the Virtual Screen sizes offered by 'Guest Additions' any more.

Re: Display won't go full screen VBox 5.2.38
I stand in error.
I reported Guest Additions for VBox 5.2.38 as being broken ... it's not
It is Microsoft that can't find drivers to work with the VBox VM Display Adapter provided by VBox Guest Additions during it's weekly updates
The work around is obvious
Uninstall Guest Additions before letting Windows 10 Insider upgrade itself - then reinstall Guest Additions.
Apologies
