Enabling network between host and VMs, along with internet for VMs

Windows host, VB 6.1, Ubuntu VMs

I'm trying to enable networking between the VMs and host, but also allow the VMs to access internet. I'm not sure if it's a bug in my version or if I'm missing setup.

I have the Host-Only network created. [attached]

As well as the NAT network. [attached]

For adapter 1, I have Host-only Adapter. For adapter 2, NAT (Name: is greyed out)

I can ping the host from the VM.
I can ping the VM from the host.
VMs can ping each other.

But no internet for the VMs...

I've read through several guides. None for this specific version of VB. I've read the https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch06.html So it looks like this is the correct combination. If I switch the order of the adapters, then I can get internet on the VMs but they can't ping each other.

Any ideas?

NAT Network and Host-Only both provide between-guests private network, NAT also is supposed to include the internet, Host-Only is supposed to include the host PC.

Try using Host-Only for between guests and the host, and "NAT" for each guest to the internet, not "NAT network".

Also, if you change the IP address range on the NAT network after you use it, the accompanying DHCP server doesn't follow along and internet access goes south.

Theoretically your setup should work, but there may be a glitch. Another couple of posters report similar problems, I'm going to have to try it myself.
