I just installed VirtualBox 6.1.4 on my laptop under Win 10 to fire up XP and use some ancient software for programming some older lighting and automation systems.
Virtualbox manager hangs when I try to change the default folder location to store VMs. In either the preferences (default location) or when trying to change the folder location when creating a machine I click in the location box, select a new folder location, hit OK and the dialog just sits there saying "other" for the folder location. The program is hung at this point, the only way out is Task Manager.
I've rebooted, run the program as administrator, added my user login full control over the application folder, no change.
Any suggestions?

Re: Manager Hangs
Sounds like something might be wrong in the global settings file. Close all Virtualbox windows and reboot your host. Open to C:\Users\{you} and move the ".Virtualbox" folder (note the period in the name) to your desktop.
Now start Virtualbox. The main window will open with no guests showing, and a new global settings file. Any guests you made will still be ready to use, you just need to re-register them by using the Machine menu Add command to browse to each guest's .vbox file. But first, try setting the default machine folder.

Thanks so much Scott for the speedy reply!
As it turns out, classic windows, I deleted all the temp files in the appdata and windows folders, it seems fine now.

Wouldn't have thought to go there, myself. Glad you're up and running!
