If you use the network defaults that the New Guest Wizard uses for an XP guest, the XP OS will already have network drivers ready to use the network adapter. You should not have to install any network drivers.

If the above does not help, please explain exactly what you want to do that requires extra drivers.

how to install the new guest wizard? i have windows 10 and downloaded the xp onto the virtual machine. but it does not have the option for devices. to install guest wizard

The New Guest Wizard is in Virtualbox on the host PC. It's the series of windows that appears when you click the "New" button in the main Virtualbox window.

well i clicked the new button and it did not show up how do i install the guest addition

This thread makes less sense the longer it goes. It starts asking for advice on installing drivers in an XP guest and now we are at a stage where a guest can't even be created!

I have never seen an occasion where nothing happens when the New icon is clicked. If that is in fact true, the first thing I would do is reinstall VirtualBox.

First I would make sure that we are talking about the same thing. Did you click on the blue icon at the top of the VirtualBox Manager window (as in this screenshot)?

When I click on that icon I get the new machine wizard.
