Error in supR3HardenedWinReSpawn VERR_INVALID_NAME -104 on VirtualBox 6.0.18

I am on Windows 10 Host + Ubuntu 18 Guest. Both are 64-bit.
After installing VirtualBox 6.0.18 and then installing the Ubuntu VM, I rebooted the host and then run VirtualBox to start the guest OS again.
I got the following error message on the screen:

- vbox_error.png (27.25 KiB) Viewed 2069 times
This is the message I got after acknowledging the dialog.
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu.
The virtual machine 'Ubuntu' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\XXXX \VirtualBox VMs\Ubuntu\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {5047460a-265d-4538-b23e-ddba5fb84976}
I searched on Google, reinstalled different versions of VirtualBox and installed/uninstalled with Admin and still like this. I don't have Hyper-V installed or enabled. I have WSL and its version 1.
I attach the ZIP version of the hardening log for diagnosis.
Thanks very much and Best Regards

Ad nauseam.
Uninstall HP ProtectTools. That bloatware is completely unnecessary in Windows 10.

There are more [lackWinTrust] entries including those from Microsoft itself ...

I'm aware. It doesn't change what I said. At the very least you should uninstall HP ProtectTools as a test, and then consider why you think you need it at all. Windows 10 has "Windows Defender" built in and constantly maintained. Two suits of armour doesn't protect you more, it just makes it more likely that you'll struggle with the weight and fall over.

I did and the same thing occurs.
Investigating now and here is the hardening log again after uninstalling the HP bloatware.

You still seem to have something called BitDefender installed. Another layer of third party AV it seems.
Cutting to the chase: anything that tampers with the OS will potentially be seen as malware. That means all third party AV, "safe internet browsing" filters, and unofficial theme extenders.

I thought this might be the problem, but since it's a company computer and I don't have any control over BitDefender ...

In that case I suggest you raise it as a support issue with your IT people. At the very least I suggest, as a test, disabling (i.e. uninstall) ALL third party AV. Establish whether VirtualBox then runs. Then restore each AV item until VirtualBox breaks again, and there's your culprit.

Hi,
I had the same issue with VirtualBox on brand new HP laptop. I just found a work around.
Start HP Sure Sense; Settings; Advanced Settings; Disable Threat Protection.
I found it by accident when trying to install Sysinternal Tool kit from Microsoft and that HP Sure Sense tool kept trying to put Sysinternal to Quarantine..
Thank you
