Fedora31 host won't start Windows10 guest

Post by Klaus53 »

I installed the current VirtualBox 6.1.2 on Fedora 31.
VirtualBox Graphical User Interface Version 6.1.2_RPMFusion r135662
when starting (normal start) the previously installed windows10 appliance, I receive an error box with the following text:

Code: Select all

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine MSEdge - Win10.

The virtual machine 'MSEdge - Win10' has terminated unexpectedly during startup because of signal 11.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {85632c68-b5bb-4316-a900-5eb28d3413df}
Re-installing the packages did not change the behavior:

Code: Select all

VirtualBox.x86_64                                6.1.2-1.fc31
VirtualBox-kmodsrc.noarch                        6.1.2-1.fc31
VirtualBox-server.x86_64

Try installing VBox from the official repo.

In the meanwhile I found out, that the issue disappears, if I login on Fedora31 a X.org session, and not a Wayland session, which is the default. :o
