Hi mates.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 as host and Windows XP as guest.

I have the Rosetta Stone software (V3) and I know that Wine has problems to put the microphone on work, so I've tried VirtualBox!

Well, first of all, this software is really amazing, I could use my scanner again and so keep digitalizing some books :D .

But when Rosetta Stone turn to mind again, microphone is the big obstacle.

I can hear everything on the XP guest, but mic is dead.

The first and crucial question is, could I use microphone on the guest XP, I mean, is it possible?

Being possible, could someone help me with it, please?

Thanks for the opportunity.

I don't like to bump posts, but in this case I really need an answer.

Is it possible use a microphone (not USB) on the virtual machine under virtualbox?

AFAIK from looking at the source and other posts on this, the ICH AC97 virtual device does support audio input if correctly configured. People have got it working. However since the AC97 has a small input FIFO, you are very sensitive to host timeslice delays. It will tend to be clicky even with a 1KHz kernel tick on you host OS.
