I'm trying to install OpenMediaVault5(OMV5) on a Linux Manjaro(XFCE) host in VirtualBox.

I can create the virtualmachine(VM) with no problems, but the initial installation always hangs at "configuring the network with DHCP V6" and goes into infinite wait mode...no text, no prompts, no screen alterations,

I have attempted this on three different Linux Manjaro(Gnome, XFCE, KDE) host machines with the same results. I have successfully installed many different Linux distros(Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro, Mythbunu, in VirtualBox on these same Linux Manjaro host machines.

I also asked this question on the OMV and Manjaro forums, but nobody has attempted to install OMV in VirtualBox on a Linux Manjaro host. I guess I'm in the minority here...lol

The relevant VM settings look identical on all the LInux distros, but OMV5 will not completely install.

Am I missing something? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Any help/guidance is appreciated, thanks.

saying unplugging the network allowed the install to continue, perhaps trying to disable IPv6 in the OpenMediaVault settings? Problem happens on physical PCs too. Not a Virtualbox problem apparently.

Right-click the guest's Network icon in the guest window Status bar, and choose 'connect network adapter' so the little checkmark is not showing, and the guest's 'network cable' will be 'pulled'. Repeat to 'plug it back in'.

You are absolutely correct, my problem is not a VB issue. I tried to install OMV5 on a bare metal system with the same result.

When I unplugged ethernet cable during bare metal install, or disconnected network in VB as you said, the installation goes past the "configuring the DHCP v6".

However, the installation is unusable. "cannot connect with mirrors" is displayed at the end of the installation process. After several reboots on both bare metal and VB, it remains unusable. It is assigning an IP address outside the range of the local network, so I cannot login to the web interface.

I've asked about this exact problem several times in the OMV forums, but got no replies. I guess I'll try again.

You plugged the network cable back in after installation was completed, right?

Also, I think OpenMediaVault is a server (a NAS in fact), so I assume you'd have to be using bridged networking.

Yeah, I plugged it in on the bare metal attempt and clicked "connect" on the VB attempt as scottgus suggested.

Yes, bridged networking is selected.

I've also installed about 10 different flavors of Linux distros on the same Manjaro host machine in VB with no problems.

OMV4 installs fine also, just a problem with OMV5.
