I recently installed a Windows OS in my VirtualBox. This entailed downloading a "disk image" with a .iso extenstion. When I downloaded it, I let it go to my default location for downloads, which is my desktop.

I then went through the process of installing the Windows OS in the Virtual Box, and after some travail was successful.

After that I thought I'd un-clutter my desk top, so I removed the *.iso file.

That seems to be a problem --- now when I start VirtualBox I get a warning message as shown (I hope; not sure how to handle this posting envirionment) in the attached file. When I click on "Check" I see no actions to take. Moreover, the Windows virtual machine seems to run OK despite what this warning says.

I tried downloading the *.iso file again. This made no difference.

I guess I could just click on "Do not show this message again" (and hope) but I'd like to get a proper solution to this enigma. Can anyone suggest what steps I should take? Thanks.

If you click Check, the Virtual Media Manager should open. If it doesn't, open it in the main Virtualbox window, File menu, Virtual Media Manager. One or more of the tabs in the Manager should have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. On that tab there will be a media with a yellow triangle on it. Click the marked media. In the Attributes tab below, there is a "Location" box showing where the media is expected to be.

If you want the media to be there, find it and put it back where it's supposed to be. Click the Refresh button to see if the Manager recognizes the media. If it's an ISO the name must also be the same. If it's a hard disk file, it must be the original file that was moved. I don't have any floppy disk images so I can't give you advice on those.

If you no longer care about that media, click the Release button to disconnect the media from the VMs it is attached to, and the Remove button to disappear it from Virtualbox altogether. Remove has Delete & Keep possibilities. Keep keeps the media on your computer and only tells Virtualbox to forget about it. Delete is the dangerous one. You Delete, and the media deletes. and you ain't getting it back. No Recycle Bin, no undo, no undelete utility, it's gone. As in gone gone. So be wise with the Keep or Delete choice.

For the record, when I,moved the disk image from where it actually was to where it should have been, there then
appeared two locations in the Atrributes tab, the correct one and a spurious one giving the old incorrect
location, the latter being greyed out.

I released and removed the spurious greyed out one. With some trepidation! No disasters occurred, the correct location remained in place and VirtualBox now starts seamlessly, with no warnings. All is in harmony in the universe!
