[Invalid] How to show windows side by side in Windows 10 hosted by Mac?

When I right click the taskbar and select "Show windows side by side" it does not show the windows side by side vertically as expected, but instead shows them stacked horizontally. When I select "Show windows stacked" it also shows the windows stacked horizontally.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro in a Vbox 6.014, hosted in Mac 10.15.1

This is a Guest behavior 100%, something that has absolutely nothing to do with VirtualBox. Just because an OS/program that runs in the context of VirtualBox has a problem, it doesn't make it a VirtualBox problem necessarily. You're having an issue that has nothing to do with VirtualBox, so my suggestion would be to treat it as such, as a native problem with the OS or the application of the Guest.

@socratis may be right. I did find one page where someone says there is a Windows bug on this feature.

I can't check if it's a problem due to Vbox or Windows since I only have Windows available in Vbox.

In case anyone else is having trouble with this, I found a work around that has at least something to do with Vbox:
  1. select the window you want to rearrange
  2. hold down the RIGHT command key and then press the various arrow keys until you get the positioning you want
  3. repeat for other windows
By default, the LEFT command key is assigned as a host key for Vbox, and this caused me a lot of confusion since I was unable to get the above solution to work when I found it on another forum. So if you change the default host key assignments this will probably have nothing to do with Vbox, as socratis said.

Window arrangement within the Guest is not a VirtualBox issue, you don't have to have Windows to test it. This would be similar to accusing Acer/Dell/HP/Lenovo/other for being responsible for your windows arrangement.

Glad you deciphered it on your own!

Marking as [Invalid] and moving to "Windows Guests" from "OSX Hosts". It's your Guest that you're having issues with...

I'm confused about your statement: "Window arrangement within the Guest is not a VirtualBox issue, you don't have to have Windows to test it." The command that I mentioned to arrange the windows is executed by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting "side by side" -- so that means I have to have Windows to test it, right?

In any event, I agree that I was probably wrong to think this was a VirtualBox issue

No, my statement has to do with that: By definition this is not a VirtualBox problem, it's a Windows problem. And I don't have to have Windows to know it is not a VirtualBox problem. Just like I don't have to have a Dell to know it's not a Dell issue ;)
