Winxp Install problem

Post by Problem1 »

I am running ubuntu 8.04 HArdy heron. I downloaded Virtualbox via Terminal and it installed straight to my apllications > system tools part.
I added the user thing in the ubuntu users. and then launched the program. I clicked new system and followed the wizard:

Name: winxppro
OS: XP
memory: 1 gig
I have tried both static virtual HDDs and dynamically moving.
I click finish then insert my XP Disc! I choose for my new vbox machine to boot from CD and then i follow the WIndows installer though untill it gets to the part when I have to format the vdrive to install windows on. I choose NTFS Quick and it starts. it gets to 20% then it hangs. then a few minutes later it aborts itself and the window closes, and underneith my vOS in the list: it says: aborted.

can anyone help?

thanks :)

Not quite. We still have no version of VB. If it's 2.0.0, please upgrade to 2.0.2. You provided just a little extra. See some other topics and the Guide for how much info we at least need.

Other Guest settings? Host specs? Log file (use pastebin if it's too long)? This is still not quite like we ask in the Guide, nor see in other topics.

If possible, remove 2.0.2 and see how 1.6.6 works. If you don't have any other VMs than the XP you want to install, remove the virtualbox machines too. Else see the announcement of 1.6.6 for downgrade instructions.
