Re: VRDP Keyboard issue with Windows 2016 HTML5 Access
Please post a guest log, from complete guest shutdown (not saved-state), to cold boot, to seeing the issue happen, to shutting down the guest using the guest's Shutdown button, to full shutdown of the guest (not saved-state). Please zip and post the log, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
It looks like you are using the Virtualbox RDP server to access the guest remotely. And you're having issues where the "alphanumeric keys" on the keyboard aren't getting through.
"Alphanumeric" means all letters and numbers, practically all of the keys, but not completely all. Theoretically, the page up/down, arrow keys, home, end, etc are still working? Please clarify exactly which keys aren't working.
Please clarify what is this "HTML5 RDWeb Client". Do you have the same issues with other RDP clients? Do you have a Windows PC that you can use to try the Windows RDP client?
Here's a clue for troubleshooting: If one RDP client (especially a Windows RDP client) works, but the HTML5 RDP client has issues, then the problem is in the HTML5 client, not Virtualbox. I remember no recent issues with Virtualbox's RDP not allowing keys through.

Hi "scottgus1"
Thank you for your reply, please see my answers below.
Alphabets (A to Z) Special Characters (~ to +), Number Keys, Space Key etc are not working.
To be more specific, I can initiate an RDP session from the html5 web client to the guest vm and the keyboard works fine. But when I try to access the same guest vm from html5 using VRDP the keyboard mapping doesn't works
Thank you for your reply, please see my answers below.

Yes, you are correct.scottgus1 wrote:It looks like you are using the Virtualbox RDP server to access the guest remotely. And you're having issues where the "alphanumeric keys" on the keyboard aren't getting through.

The HTML5 Remote Desktop web client lets users access the Remote Desktop infrastructure through a compatible web browser. They'll be able to interact with remote apps or desktops like they would with a local PC no matter where they are. There is no issue with Other RDP Client, I have tried to access the Guest VM using Windows RDP Client and the Keyboard works fine.scottgus1 wrote:Please clarify what is this "HTML5 RDWeb Client". Re: VRDP Keyboard issue with Windows 2016 HTML5 Access
I see the same kinds of VRDP activity in my guest log that I see in yours. Nothing out of the ordinary to my untrained eyes.
What does stand out is this:
I'd suggest also posting this problem with the HTML5 client's support channels, see what they say. Further, can you please post a link to this HTML5 client so we could try it?
What does stand out is this:
If the quintessential RDP client works, and the new RDP client doesn't, and the forums haven't blown up with RDP failures, chances are the new RDP client has an issue somewhere. (though there could be a miscommunication between VB & the HTML5, as I see HTML5 works RDPing directly into the guest OS not through VRDP. Virtualbox RDP and HTML5 RDP are both newer on the block than Windows RDP...)sajeeasw wrote:There is no issue with Other RDP Client, I have tried to access the Guest VM using Windows RDP Client and the Keyboard works fine.
