Convert VirtualBox from DEB to uDEB Package

Hello All,

I am looking to have VirtualBox installed into the Debian Installer itself which uses uDEB (Micro-DEB) packages instead of DEB package for the Debian Installer itself. The uDEB packages are apparently a small variation on DEB packages that have pulled out such things as documentation and the like to keep the package small.

With this in mind, I would like to know if there is anyone out there that can help me to figure out how to convert the VirtualBox DEB package into a uDEB package?

My project is a small exercise in minimization for VirtualBox and I hope to be able to get VB running from within the Debian Installer core setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would think that asking the Debian VirtualBox maintainer would yield better, more educated answers, don't you think?

Search for 'Gianfranco Costamagna' in the VirtualBox developer's mailing list, or 'locutusofberg' (same person) on the [url=irc://irc.freenode.net/vbox-dev]#vbox-dev[/url] channel at IRC (warning: IRC link)., he's the Debian maintainer.

Even though it's not a VirtualBox question per se, if I were you I'd ask the same question in the VirtualBox developer's mailing list, chances are that Gianfranco is going to be listening...

Even better chances if you ask your question to a mailing list/forum which is Debian oriented.
