Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Hello,
I have troubles with running multiple windows guests (4machines) on ubuntu hosts, whitch is control via RDP. After update on VirtualBox VM 6.0.12 r133076 Windows XP guests freezes and I am not able do anything. because mouse and keyboard freeze. In system monitor in ubuntu it has 25% of CPU power (rest of machines have cca 1-2%). I have tried to allocate more RAM on guests machines (from 1024 to 2048), more GPU memory (from 30 to 64MB) but without success, the same error. They works aprox. 10 hours after restart and only one hosts freeze, rest of machines works normally, Can you help me, please.
Logs file included.

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
The last line of your log is:
That's going to be a hard one to reproduce... BTW, you should shutdown/close the VM window, before grabbing the log, it's incomplete otherwise. I didn't see anything wrong with your VM's configuration.101:44:16.041239 VBVA: VRDP acceleration has been disabled.
So, if you downgrade to 6.0.10 the problem goes away?Hypak wrote:After update on VirtualBox VM 6.0.12 r133076
Something apparently got stuck in the VM, but you can't obviously see what's that. I wonder if the Windows Event Log shows anything out of the ordinary, did you have a chance to check that?Hypak wrote:In system monitor in ubuntu it has 25% of CPU power (rest of machines have cca 1-2%).
Are the rest of the VMs also WinXP?Hypak wrote:rest of machines works normally

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Windows XP has native support for all the Pointing Device options available in VirtualBox, that's not the problem.Hypak wrote:My opinion is, that I have Pointing device USB Tablet and ps2 mouse on some machines
Can we see a screenshot of that error? It would be helpful (vital actually) if the interface in WinXP is not in Russian, but in English.Hypak wrote:In windows under device manager I have error in driver standard USB device HID an device manager cannot find proper driver and I don't know, how it find manually
As I said, "PS/2 Mouse", "USB Tablet" and "USB Multi-Touch Tablet" are all supported natively in WinXP.Hypak wrote:Can I use different pointing device , when I use one mouse for all machines?

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
I don't speak Czech, and an image is hard to translate. But... if you're having a problem when you're switching from "PS/2 Mouse" to "USB Tablet", then there is definitely something wrong with your WinXP installation. That is 100% guaranteed.
Please try to create a new WinXP VM and see if the issue persists...

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Thank you very much for your advices and help. I am not sure, if problem is caused by ps2/usb tablet (this is only one error in hosts machienes). I have tried version 6.0.10 and all machines with ps2, but the same error.
I have multiseat PC (2 graphicards, 2 keybords, 2 mouses) and on seat runs one WM, on second seat aprox 5VMs, mostly with WinXP and thea are mostly controlled via RDP. Situation is the same, CPU over 20% and PC is not reaction on mouse, I have to kill process with this machine and start again...
MAybe problem is caused by disconecting usb mouse end keaybord, maybe on rdp connection,
Can I try Virtualbox version 5?
My new logs below
Kind regards
Edit 1 : I fouud out that CPU rise to 25% CPU, I have 4 core CPU, so in system monitor it works on 100%. After killing that process if falls down to 10-15% each core. Could it caused that all of that are 32systems windows and I have setup only one processor?

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Wow! Can you simplify your setup? Because something like that is definitely not reproducible.Hypak wrote:I have multiseat PC (2 graphicards, 2 keybords, 2 mouses) and on seat runs one WM, on second seat aprox 5VMs
Don't start with the most complex scenario, start with the simplest of all scenarios; one host/one VM/no RDP/1 mouse/1 keyboard. Then start adding options, see where it fails.

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Ok, it worked maybe 3 years without troubled on two physical machines (all hardware identical, only one in not controll via RDP). I have made three changes today an it was working whole day :
1) downgrade to VB 5.2
2) disabled voice
3) disabled USB suspend on guest system
and hopefully, it works.
Thank you for your help

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Great! Keep testing it for a couple of days and start adding more options/hardware/peripherals as you do. See if you can get it to fail with a specific change...Hypak wrote:and hopefully, it works.

Re: Virtualbox freezes RDP + keyboard + mouse
Thanks for reporting back, but I'd really like to know if this is a VirtualBox 6.x regression. Without changing anything else in your setup, can you simply upgrade to the latest 6.0.14 VirtualBox? TIA...
