Where is the partition?

Post by idyllhands »

I made an XP VBox in Ubuntu Hardy, and now I want to also set up a dual boot for XP Home on the computer.
I opened up partition manager (GParted) to add a new partition to put windows on, but it only lists my ext3 (Linux) partition and then the extended and swap partitions (also part of Linux, I believe)
I don't fully understand how VBox works, but does it not create a partition for the Virtual machine (I set it up for a dynamic size--is this why)?
I just don't want to accidentally overwrite my VBox partition..

VBox creates a file that acts as the container for the Guest OS. See the Tutorial: All about VDIs for more information about how it works. Also see the VirtualBox FAQ for a link with an explenation of what a Virtual Machine actually is.
