USB not working in Ubuntu Hardy. VirtualBox-2.0

Post by nergar »

I just added

Code: Select all

deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian hardy non-free
to my repositories and installed the package virtualbox-2.0, however as soon as I opened VirtualBox I was greeted with this message twice:

Code: Select all

Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). The service might be not installed on the host computer.

Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x00004005)
Component:
Host
Interface:
IHost {489fb370-c227-4d43-9761-ceb28484fd9f}
what do I need to get USB working here, very important to me.
Thanks in advance.

It's because VBox still uses a legacy access mode for USB. See http://michael-prokop.at/blog/2007/07/1 ... albox-usb/. Might be a good idea raising a ticket on this one because it hit me as well. (See FAQ — Need to file a bug report?)

We at least there is a work-around for this bug. Thanks for the ticket reference
