bad repo for opensuse

Post by staki »

Hi !

I use to have virtualbox on openSUSE distro since a couple of years. I never had problems with the opensuse repo until I installed the new openSUSE 15.1 Since then I always get an error message:

Code: Select all

Repository type can't be determined.
To enable the repo I followed the recommmendations on the virtualbox download page for openSUSE distro and I created a file named " virtualbox.repo" and saved it in /etc/zypp/repos.d folder.
(I can't post the content of the file because it contains urls and this is my first post on the forum...sorry !)

Did I do something wrong ? Any idea ?

Cheers, staki

How about if you download the OpenSUSE 15 rpm directly? As in https://download.virtualbox.org/virtual ... x86_64.rpm? Does that fail?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Hi socratis,

No, it is ok, and I have installed it like this and it is running.
The only "problem" is that I can't configure the repo, so I won't be able to do automatic updates.
But of course I can go from time to time on the virtualbox download page to see if there is a new version...
