[Solved] Win10-Pro blinking cursor on a black screen.

Post by echo »

I'm at a lost with this. Can someone take a look at the Vbox log and point me in the right direction?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HP Specter360 i7 16GB
Enabled virtualization in BIOS
Disabled HyperV in windows.
Vbox 6

Your log has these lines:
00:00:07.146498 HM: HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM: VT-x is not available
00:00:07.208887 NEM: WHvCapabilityCodeHypervisorPresent is TRUE, so this might work...
When the guest is running, does the green turtle with a V on its back appear in the status bar? If so, word is it is running, but turtle-slow, should be booted to the login screen around the release of Windows 15...

Check on this:
socratis wrote:Look in the "Control Panel" » "Programs and Features" » "Turn Windows features on or off", and make sure that the none of the following are active (the list keeps getting bigger by the day):
  • Application Guard
  • Credential Guard
  • Device Guard
  • <any> * Guard
  • Containers
  • Hyper-V
  • Virtual Machine Platform
  • Windows Hypervisor Platform
  • Windows Sandbox
  • Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)
If that doesn't work, enter the following command:
  •
    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
followed by a cold boot, i.e. shut down the computer, pull the power plug for 10", reboot.
If VirtualBox is running without Hyper-V enabled, where proper, hardware virtualization is actually available, then the standard virtualization icon (Image) would show.

Thank you, I think the Windows subsystem for Linux was the issue. :D

Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a relatively new addition to the "has to use Hyper-V" family, I think you're one of the first people that have been affected.
