Regression: ST-Link/V2 USB on Windows 7 problems after upgrading to VB 6.0.6 (from 6.0.4)

Running Windows 7 Professional under VirtualBox 6.0.4 with extensions/additions on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.14.4. Can connect an mbed device via ST-Link USB just fine, it shows up as a removable drive and I can drag and drop files to the drive to flash the mbed device. Note: Latest ST-Link drivers installed from ST website.
Then I upgraded to VirtualBox 6.0.6 with upgraded extensions/additions. Now, the mbed device removable drive still shows up, but when I drag and drop a file to it Windows Explorer sits there forever with "calculating ..." (or something similar) and an endless progress bar and never actually appears to write the file to the device. Sometimes Windows Explorer closes unexpectedly at some point and sometimes VirtualBox crashes completely (need to start VB on MacOS). Basically, the ST-Link mbed removable drive is now non-functional.
However, when I downgrade to VirtualBox 6.0.4 (with downgraded extensions/additions) then everything is back to normal: The mbed device removable drive behaves as expected and I can drag & drop files to it as before. Nothing else in the system has changed (no changes to Windows Guest except uninstalling/reinstalling VB additions).
It strongly looks like there is some regression in the USB support from VirtualBox 6.0.4 to 6.0.6.
Thanks,
