About VBoxFB and VBoxSDL (on linux hosts)

Post by mai »

Hello. I am interested in using a frontend that supports framebuffer. There is one, VBoxFB, but is not maintained. On the other hand, there is another called VBoxSDL, but apparently is not designed to run on framebuffer console. I tried to tweak the environment variable SDL_VIDEODRIVER to make it work, but failed. So my questions are

1. What are the reasons that VBoxFB is not maintained?

2. Is it viable to modify VBoxSDL (instead of VBoxFB) so that not only it works under X Window, but with framebuffer as well?

Thanks.

We're all dashed off our feet coping with people who are reporting V2.0 errors. You may not get a sensible reply to this this w/e!! Sorry.
