BUG cant install if temp folder is not default

Post by Chaveiro »

I have my temp folder in a RAM disk to save my SSD, the %temp% env variable points to R: on my setup.
Since some versions ago of the installer package i got the error 2755 trying to install/upgrade.

After much fiddling with logs i discover that the problem was that the installer extrated the msi and cab file to my R: drive but tried to use the extracted files from the hardcoded path c:\windows\temp\virtualbox.

Please use the %temp% enviroment variable instead.

To replicate just change the default path for temp and try to install.

I have the exact same problem.

How about publishing Virtualbox inside Windows Store ?

This problem has been discussed before. The only way it would change, frankly, is if the paying Oracle customers wanted it to change. Hard to bear, but it has to be borne. You must undo changes to Temp back to the default to let Virtualbox install.
