hi i have vista and kubuntu hardy installed .and i installed virtualbox on both operatingsystems and every time i want to use it in Linux i keep on getting this messege

I would say, check your repositories for that module. Virtualbox-OSE-kernel-modules-generic should do it, or whatever kernel flavour you run.

However, since you run a dualboot and use the same VMs in each Host OS, I advise you to remove the OSE edition completely and install the Binary version from the site where you also found the Windows installer (there is also now a Debian Repository with the Binary version).

What where is? The OSE kernel module or the PUEL version for your distro? For the latter, please look a bit more (like higher up the page for example).

If you search for VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED you will see various discussions on this. When VBox loads it attempts to connect to /dev/vboxdrv. If you aren't a member of vboxusers or the driver wasn't loaded you get this error. So did you remember to add yourself to the VBox group as you were told to do in the install instructions.

Also check that the driver is loading. Have you done this? If not eithr something went wrong in the install or you've had a kernel upgrade.

i added my self to the vboxusers group but is there anyway to get that driver working?

You have to log out and in again for the group permissions to work.

the solution is simpler than you'd think...
'virtualbox' calls the OSE version which you haven't installed, so generates that message.
'VirtualBox' will launch the PEULA version.
