Failed to attach USD HDD to W7

Hi, I have a 2016 MBP Pro running VBox 6.0.4, and Windows 7 Pro. I seem to be challenged with external USB HDDs.
I just purchased a WD 4TB My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0, and added the 25E2 [4005] driver in the USB Settings. However, after ejecting from OSX 10.14.4, I get a failure to recognize the device "VERR_PDM_NO_USB_PORTS".
This is the same whether of not I add it to the USB settings.

I switched from USB 2.0 to 3.0 and nothing changed.

Attached is a shot of the message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please read the following thread: USB basics and troubleshooting, all of the posts. See if you can spot the error in red...

BTW, notice also the beginning of the thread, the "IMPORTANT" part:
IMPORTANT
  • If you can share the device from the host (be it Shared/Network Folders, or Printer sharing), go for that option! It's much easier, and both the host and the guest can access the shared USB resources.

Thank you, but it was very painful. I did discover that you had to set up the shared folder in the VM's Shared Folder settings, which I pointed to the External USB 3.0 HDD. I was very confused about the Shared setting in Finder's Info screen. It would not "stick". And, I had to make sure that it was connected to the Host BEFORE bring up the VM, or it would not be recognized. And, I would have to leave it connected or I would have to go through the process of shutting down the VM and starting it again.

Nothing else seemed to work. :(

I'm sorry, that's the way it is. A shared folder is a quick and dirty way to share files, but the shared folder needs to be there throughout the life of the VM.

Thanks, I've been a programmer since before the earth cooled, so I know how to adjust! Alas 8)
