Hi, I have a 2016 MBP Pro running VBox 6.0.4, and Windows 7 Pro. I seem to be challenged with external USB HDDs.
I just purchased a WD 4TB My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0, and added the 25E2 [4005] driver in the USB Settings. However, after ejecting from OSX 10.14.4, I get a failure to recognize the device "VERR_PDM_NO_USB_PORTS".
This is the same whether of not I add it to the USB settings.
I switched from USB 2.0 to 3.0 and nothing changed.
Attached is a shot of the message.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please read the following thread: USB basics and troubleshooting, all of the posts. See if you can spot the error in red...pws442 wrote:... Windows 7 Pro ... USB 3.0 ... "VERR_PDM_NO_USB_PORTS" ... I switched from USB 2.0 to 3.0 and nothing changed.
BTW, notice also the beginning of the thread, the "IMPORTANT" part:

- If you can share the device from the host (be it Shared/Network Folders, or Printer sharing), go for that option! It's much easier, and both the host and the guest can access the shared USB resources.

Re: Failed to attach USD HDD to W7
Thank you, but it was very painful. I did discover that you had to set up the shared folder in the VM's Shared Folder settings, which I pointed to the External USB 3.0 HDD. I was very confused about the Shared setting in Finder's Info screen. It would not "stick". And, I had to make sure that it was connected to the Host BEFORE bring up the VM, or it would not be recognized. And, I would have to leave it connected or I would have to go through the process of shutting down the VM and starting it again.
Nothing else seemed to work.

Re: Failed to attach USD HDD to W7
I'm sorry, that's the way it is. A shared folder is a quick and dirty way to share files, but the shared folder needs to be there throughout the life of the VM.

Thanks, I've been a programmer since before the earth cooled, so I know how to adjust! Alas
