Hello, I use Ubuntu and within Vitualbox a Windows machine.

My answer is:

Thanks.

shakaran,

While I have not installed ver. 2 I do use ver 1.6.6 and yes you can expect acitvesync to see your pda. But first you have to enable the usb device in the settings of your vm.

So shutdown windows
Open the settings window for this vm
Navigate down to the usb tab
Make sure that usb is enabled but not usb 2
On the right of the window you will see a Plus click on it and it should show all of the usb devices that are present
Click on the one that corrosponds to your pda making sure that check also appears to the left of the entry
Restart the vm and it should be able to sync.

Personally I am having a problem with mine but in the past I found that changeing the usb socket it's plugged into helps to get it recognized.

If you don't see your device listed in the settings it may be because windows has not yet tried to connect. To correct this make sure that activesync is installed in the vm and has tried to find the device.

Hope this is helpful,
MCP

Also see the Manual and VirtualBox FAQ at the bottom to the Wiki to enable USB if you haven't done so already. By default, you can enable USB in VB, but you still don't have access to the USB devices. It is also described here on the forum several times.

Thanks mcp and Sasquatch!

I follow your steps, but it does not work at all.

Now it appears in USB devices VirtualBox device called "HTC RNDIS" (my PDA).

If I expect about 10 seconds, the sounds of Windows sound device connected, but after 2 seconds again sounded the same sound as if they were disconnecting.

In the Windows tray icon not appears any device detected and therefore ActiveSync does not recognize anything.

When I dettach the PDA appear the error message:

Code: Select all

Assertion failed: [!DevPtr.isNull()] at '/home/vbox/vbox-2.0.0/src/VBox/Main/USBProxyService.cpp' (194) in nsresult USBProxyService::detachDeviceFromVM(SessionMachine*, const nsID&, bool).
Please contact the product vendor!.

On the PDA, navigate to The connections tab under Settings. SelectUSB to PC. Clear the checkbox next to 'Enable advanced network functionality.'

For what it is worth this resolved my issue on an AT&T Tilt that kept showing up in my fedora 9 PC as network device. Now activesync works perfectly.

Thank you!!!
