Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
According to instructions I found, the shared folder should be located in My Network Places. This is empty, however. I have tried rebooting the VirtualBox - no change.

Re: Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:

- Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
- With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
- Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I don't know where you found your "instructions" but delete that bookmark from your browser. Unless you didn't follow the instructions closely...
I trust only one set of instructions, and so should you; the User Manual. Specifically ch. 4.3. Shared Folders, where it clearly states:
In the same ch. 4. Guest Additions, you'll find ch. 4.2.1. Guest Additions for Windows. Please read it for more information and follow the instructions...With the shared folders feature of Oracle VM VirtualBox, you can access files of your host system from within the guest system. This is similar to how you would use network shares in Windows networks, except that shared folders do not require networking, only the Guest Additions.

Re: Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
I've installed the Guest Additions, rebooted, and the folder is still empty.

Re: Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
Reboot the Guest one or more times, in 6.0.x there are some issues with the Shared Folders, take a look at the Known Issues in the "Discuss the 6.0.0 release" post.

Re: Shared Folder not appearing on Windows XP
Never mind I still wasn't able to locate the Shared Folder but I figured out I can just drag and drop the files I need.
