Machine Wrap

Post by whatthehack »

Hi community!

I'm running Windows 10 Home Edition, Oracle VM Ver 6.0.4.

The installation went smoothly and was able to import appliance.

However, when I tried to start it, it gave an error as shown:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ethereum.

The virtual machine 'Ethereum' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'E:\Zachery\Box Sync\Downloads\Blockchain\VirtualBox VMs\Ethereum\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {5047460a-265d-4538-b23e-ddba5fb84976}

I could not start it under normal, headless or detached mode.

I tried disabling Kaspersky Internet Security, no success there.

Can anyone help to resolve the issue?

Much appreciated!

Generally speaking, disabling the internet security and anti-virus tools isn't enough. You should either uninstall it completely or add exceptions so it doesn't interfere with the VirtualBox executable files.

Further guidance can be found in Tutorial: Diagnosing VirtualBox Hardening Issues.
