Hi, i got an issue with my wireless adapter. It's a ALFA AWUS036ACH.
I installed the drivers from the CD and it connects and works well on my OS (windows 10 Pro), but when i launch Kali-Linux i can hear the usb disconnecting sound and the realtek usb wireless lan unit become empty like when you manually disconnect the adapter. Even if i connect the adapter after Kali-Linux if fully loaded i hear the usb connection sound but nothing change.
Only when i poweroff the vm the adapter reconnects automatically.
before you ask i connected the usb device to the vm, infact if i go in the vm menu devices>Usb i can see it and it's cecked (also unchecking as i saw in some post won't work aswell).
I read somewhere that this could be a problem about USB filter for the wireless card (?) and something about OS and vm can't share the device and so on
any ideas? really need some help on this one

If you have the VM configured to grab ownership of the USB device then that is exactly what I'd expect.Aylilayal wrote:Hi, i got an issue with my wireless adapter. It's a ALFA AWUS036ACH.

USB devices can't be shared. The VM can't "tap into" controlling a USB device owned by the host. A USB device is plugged into one PC at a time.
Sharing the "function" of a device is a very different proposition. Perhaps that is what you intended. Typically the device would be owned and operated by the host, and would be bridged to from the guest. Note however that bridging is designed for Ethernet cards, it may or may not work with a USB WiFi dongle. This is not USB capture: the USB settings of the VM would not be involved and in fact should be turned off.

Go to the VM Settings » USB » Filters. Do you have a filter enabled? Delete it.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
