Starting XP Guest Apps from Host?

I have Windows XP Pro as my guest OS running Microsoft Office. I know that I can use right control-L to eliminate the desktop background behind an application, but is it possible to place a link in my host OS to launch XP and go to a specific app. For example, can I have a link that takes me straight to Outlook and another one to take me straight to Word?

Bob, Welcome to the forum. Have a scan of the
Forum Posting Guide for help in framing Qs (e.g. I've changed your title to be a little more meaningful).
In short there is no "out of the box" way of doing this in VBox. There are no "backdoor" APIs between the host and the guest. The way you would do this is exactly the same as you would start an app on another Windows PC from an external Linux box, since to the two OSs this is exactly the situation that they are in.
These aren't instant solutions so for now I would live with the few clicks it currently takes. Sorry.

If the Guest is running in the Background via VBoxRDP. you can start Guest Apps with a Tool called "seamlessrdp".

Here is a German Howto for this:

You can also enable the Quick Launch toolbar and put the shortcuts of the wanted programs in there. One click once the VM is running in seamless mode and the program starts.
