Hey guys, new to this forum but I have a Windows XP VM that has some old MSDOS programs on it, I originally created it off of a physical hard drive that was connected to a very old machine but has crucial info on it. It has been working great under Windows 10 for a few years but a few days ago it stopped being able to boot, I updated VirtualBox and all its plugins and made sure I have plenty of disk space available but it still just gives a black screen after the initial VirtualBox boot screen.
Any advice?

Re: Windows XP VM black screen
This was an old VM you say? In that case you can't have moved it properly onto the new host. It sounds like you moved the hard drive and then created a new (virtual) PC around it. I hope that isn't what you do when you want to move a physical PC!
Howto: Move a VM.
As to the problem at hand: in recreating the VM you got the IOAPIC setting wrong.
