[Resolved] Win XP internet

Post by Kitsos »

Hello everybody. I cant connect my virtual win xp on the internet. I ve read Sokratis's post and applied the settings but still I can't connect.
Old versions of Virtual box like 3 years ago could connect automatically with no any configuration needed. The most mysterious fact is that I installed these versions but they ain't connecting now either. :? :? :?

So, Kitso m', what exactly failed? And please don't tell me IE, because there are instructions in the "No internet for a WinXP guest" post on how to get Firefox working...

Did the pinging work?

Are you sure it was the old VirtualBox, and not the not-yet-expired certificates? ;)

I m impressed of the quick reply :!:
My problem isnt only browsing. I dont want to browse in that machine anyway. But I cant even activate my Windows through internet. I generally want to play an old game online using TCP/IP; but I cant connect at all.
Yes! I use VBox since 2015. Old versions were connecting normally. I could activate my software ... and play my game with no prob. I dont understand why these versions cant connect now. :?: :( :?

Kitso,
Windows XP has been out of the market for a long time. It only makes sense if they don't actually activate anything new, doesn't it? The activation servers are dead as well.

You didn't answer the most important question; does the ping work or not?

The article clearly talks about following a specific procedure. Can you do that? And post the results? I also need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

Unfortunately I havent studied networks and telecommunications... Therefore I can't do much than adjust the values of the network specifications. I dont see how can I make it work.
Anyways thanks a lot for your time and I appreciate much your effort to help me.
