Windows 7 Guest Problems

Post by VividDream »

Hello, expert. After installing the Windows 7 guest, I started to issue an issue because of the problem I'm experiencing.

First, after running DirectX Diagnostic Tool in Windows, when you look at the 'DirectX Function' in the Display tab, 'AGP Texture Acceleration' is not enabled. Windows 7's Aero theme is enabled, but graphics are unnatural in some tasks.

Secondly, the output sound is mixed with noise occasionally. For example, when playing MP3 files.

Third, when the USB flash memory is inserted, the operation is interrupted temporarily while freezing occurs. The host OS then outputs a message that the USB has been disconnected due to a malfunction. If you reconnect USB flash memory, you can use it normally, but it is not troublesome and I want to find the fundamental solution.

Note that this problem does not occur when connecting other USB devices such as a printer.

Thank you in advance.

Please don't throw every problem that you have with a guest in one thread. We try to observe the rule "one issue per thread, one thread per issue", with an appropriate title preferably. Otherwise nobody can find a specific thread for a problem by doing a search (yes, I'm a hopeless optimist). I'm going to reply to the basic questions and then I'm going to Lock the thread, because I don't want it to turn in a multi-problem reply.

That is correct. The fake, virtual GPU that your virtual machine has, does not have such "capabilities". What you see is expected.

Sound is a long story in a VM. It's been worked on for several revisions now. Just search around the forums for Audio issues. For example, if you had searched for "sound problems", just the thread Sound Problem With VirtualBox -5.2.x branch has 128 posts, as of this writing.

Now, for this one, you need to open a new thread, with an appropriate title.

Please read the following thread: USB basics and troubleshooting, all of the posts.

If you still have a problem after reading through the whole thing, please follow the advice of the last post, #8: Asking for help and post the information requested. In a new thread...
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
