Latest Vbox DOES NOT WORK FOR USB DRIVES

Post by JustMike »

Been researching this over several days.

Windows 7 Host (win7 ultimate)
Windows 7 Guest (win7 ultimate)

Lenovo AMD Laptop G405

Tried two USBs, using same only available usb port, it's 3.0 according to mfg, but may not have 3.0 drivers installed for windows?

Tried Transcend 16gb and Kingston 3gb
Both recognized by Vbox engine but will not "attach" (mount).

Same error messages as TONS of other users who have the SAME problem.

with or without filter-does not matter.

Usb failed to attach
usb uuid is busy with a previous request. please try again later (there is not previous request).
Result code: E_invalidarg
component: hostusbdevicewrap
Interface:IhoseUSBdevice
Callee:Iconsole

I have tried all the remedies posted over the last several years that this problem CONTINUES.

Removed the " Add filters" (from memory) from win7 registry under the recommended usb registry key
Tried all types of plugins-before engine started, after engine started, etc, etc. same problem

Win7 reports usb drivers installed correctly and ready for use while guest is running and usb is inserted. Win7 reports all usb drivers working ok. But still vbox cannot mount the usb.

Tried editing the filter to remove unnecessary entries and tried it with the vbox supplied entries, doesn't matter.

Vbox simply does not work, this is a major bug that has persisted for years.

Anyone that has any working soultions, I am ALL EARS. There are about 10 posts on this same problem, I have read and tried them all. No go. Buggy software.

Please read the following thread: USB basics and troubleshooting, all of the posts.

If you still have a problem after reading through the whole thing, please follow the advice of the last post, #8: Asking for help and post the information requested.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I have already wasted enough time on Oracle's problem. It's a major bug-FIX IT. Been that way for years and many users complaining. All you can do is give us a runaround. I dont think you have any idea what the problem is, nor do your developers.

Hers is a excerpt from the log.

As you can see deviceiocontrol did not load. So I guess that's part of the problem.
I read all the info in your reference and it does not address the problem. The problem being that the program does not support USB devices, period. IT's YOUR problem. The program is NOT FREE.
Change the name of the progam to "VOlunteer for free to debug our buggy program"
Have to find another alternative to VIrtualbox. Sorry but I've reached my limit, it's what we call cripple ware.
