VM could not be started because DVD image not found

I just installed this one and everything went just singingly and it seems to be working all right. But every time I start the VB it wants to install it again. I have to f3 interrupt the installation and after that it starts to load the already installed WIndows.

Now, I got irritated on this behavior and moved the ISO image to another location to stop it from trying to reinstall the winxp all over and over again. But now it refuses to start at all with this error message. I might of course have made one or more silly mistakes while installing and all hints to some kind of solution much appreciated.

Code: Select all

The virtual machine could not be started because the DVD image '/home///xxxxx_EN.iso' which is attached to it could not be found or could not be opened. Please detach the image and try again.

Result Code:
0x80004005
Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {d5a1cbda-f5d7-4824-9afe-d640c94c7dcf}

You will boot from DVD if the DVD is installed and you have the DVD as the first in your boot chain, just the same as you left the real DVD in your PC.

The way to stop this is (i) edit your Virtual Machine BIOS properties to make it boot from HDD first. (ii) remove the ISO properly using the GUI or the VBoxManage command line interface.

Incidentally /home///xxxxx_EN.iso seems a bizarre location / file reference.

I did not notice the always greyed Settings til I already had wasted considerable time trying to find and edit vboxmanage. Luckily I had to do a restart on my machine and the Settings happened to be visible after that so I could edit the BIOS the easy way. Thanks

PS Generally the letters xxx cause less umbrage than their implications so I thought it wise to use them. 8)
