Terrain Navigator Pro in Windows 10 guest

I run kubuntu as the main OS and have Windows 10 installed in Virtual Box. Terrain Navigator Pro (TNP) is a light GIS that I have used for many years in the field but in VB a critical function won't work. TNP provides supplemental maps beside its basic USGS map set; I should be able to invoke aerial photos, satellite imagery, and terrain maps. Those supplemental maps reside on a TNP server and when needed they're downloaded in to a 64G cache. Somehow VB quickly corrupts that cash which requires emptying the cache, closing the program, and restarting the program. TNP tech support asserts it normally runs well in Win10 and suggested I contact Oracle. As I am a small, underfunded non-profit I cannot afford to contact Oracle directly, so I'm hoping somebody on this forum can suggest how I can prevent the cache from being corrupted. Any suggestions welcome.

Your issue is really unique (if I may), so we'll need to see what's causing this. I do have a suspicion that there may be something in the Win10 VM and not VirtualBox itself.
Can you create a new test VM? Will it have the same effects? If yes, we would need to see a
complete VBox.log, from a
complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
- Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
- With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
- Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

Finally, I have a suspicion... are you running the VM from an external USB drive? What are the power settings? Any chance that your host goes to sleep or low-power mode?
