Is there a way to test if Virtual Box is getting input from a microphone?
The microphone works in Win7 (host)
The speakers are working and the audio system appears to be set up correctly in WinXP(guest).
Please advise.
Thanks, Tracey

Re: microphone not working in windows xp
I search the documentation, but a microphone is not listed.
Since the speakers are working I am assuming the "sound card" is working.

Re: microphone not working in windows xp
I have no use for a microphone myself, but I seem to recall that the audio source must be connected to line-in, not mic-in.
Re: microphone not working in windows xp
Could it be the microphone you're using? I've ran into this issue before and a new mic fixed the problem...but not every time. Just food for thought.
Re: microphone not working in windows xp
As an End User, I have no technical clue of what I am doing.
I did change from mic-in to line-in, but that did not seem to make any difference.
The mic works on the host (win7), and mic did work in virtualbox v5.1.x when Win2K was the guest, so I am suspecting WinXP but I have no way of verifying this.
If anyone happens to know of anything I can try, I would really like to know.
Thanks, Tracey

Did you enable the Audio Input in the VM Settings > Audio? It's disabled by default for security reasons...

Re: microphone not working in windows xp
It was fixed with an update, so I guess it was not WinXP after all.
Just FYI, Tracey
