[Resolved] Kernel Driver Not Installed (rc=-1908)

Post by glassman »

Hi everyone, please excuse any shortcomings in the info I'm supplying as being nearly 80 I don't understand some of the terms used. So here's my problem, I've been running Virtual Box (5.2.22) on my imac/sierra set up for 4 years but trying to boot up last week it failed and brought up the attached message, I tried installing the latest update but that then failed with the message to contact the software supplier. I've tried looking for the path in the message thinking I could find the missing file in my old back ups but cannot find it. Thanks in advance for any help your able to offer.

I suspect you have not posted in the correct forum, as I associate that error with Linux guests.

Please provide a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

This is actually a host issue, moving to the "OSX Hosts" section. And there's actually no need for a VBox.log, this is a host installation issue. In fact, there's actually an almost identical titled thread there: Installation fails on 10.13.x, 10.14.x (rc=-1908).

Thanks for the quick reply, as mentioned I'm not familier with computer terms can I ask where and what is the GUI, also you say 'with the VM fully shut down' I'm only able to open it as far as the first screen do I come out of that?
