Problem installing Windows 7 pro

Trying to boot up a Windows 7 Pro guest in VB 6.0.0 I get the following error:

After a time with "Windows is loading files" I get a screen titled "Windows Boot Manager" telling me there was an error running the file windows\system32\boot\winload.exe, with the info: "attempting to load a 64-bits application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64 bit mode".

The laptop is an Acer Aspire E1-421, which should not have any problem with 64bit, as booting it directly from the Windows DVD starts the installation without problem....

Any idea ?

Please go thoroughly through the FAQ: I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests. Remember that these are just guidelines, you have to use your judgement...

When you made the VM, You proboubly set the version to "Windows 7 (32 bit)"

Because of this, Your VM doesn't have a 64-bit processor. You will need to do the following steps to enable a 64 bit processor on your vm:

1: Boot into the Bios of your host.

Usually, This can be done by holding the [SHIFT] key and clicking the restart button, When the BIOS menu shows up, Click troubleshoot. Then select "UEFI Firmware Settings"
Your PC will restart again and you will se the PheonixBios Menu, Scroll through the tabs until you find "Intel Virtualization Technology" To run 64 bit vms, Be sure it is set to true, Otherwise, Enable it. Then Exit the bios saving changes to return to your host OS.

2: When you return to Windows,

Log in and go into your VBOX Manager and remake your vm. This time: Select in the OS Version. "Windows 7 (64 bit)" Then your VM should work just fine and boot into the install wizard. Then you can install and use your vm like an actual 64-bit PC.

Hope this helped you.
