Hello,
I'm using Windows XP as guest. Is each of the following sufficient to find out if the Guest Additions are loaded?
(1) The icon in the right corner of the taskbar shows a tooltip with the release number of the Guest Additions (currently 6.0.0)
(2) Windows Service "VirtualBox Guest Additions Service" is running
(3) Clipboard sharing is working
(4) Shared folder is working
How to check if Guest Additions are loaded

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
The first three work. The fourth works if you confirm that the shared folder is provided by the GAs and not by the network (i.e. look for the share in your network neighborhood, "VBoxSvr" branch.

Thank you, yes, I can confirm that, folder "\\Vboxsvr" is part of the network.

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
Just a small clarification... The VirtualBox Shared Folders will appear in that location, even if you have no networking enabled, even if you have no network cards at all for your guest. It's just how they're implemented in the Windows guests, as a network-presentable extension/namespace.

Or you could simply look in Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs in the XP guest.

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
@BillG: There I can see if the Guest Additions are installed, I'm asking how to see if they are loaded.

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
Have you ever seen an occasion where they were installed but not loaded? I never have.

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
You really have to go out of your way to make the GAs installed, but not loading... A long way out of your way!

Re: How to check if Guest Additions are loaded
@BillG: How should a layman know, that "installed, but not loaded" is a rare case?
Service "VirtualBox Guest Additions Service" may have been stopped or killed, e. g. unintentionally by myself.
