Hi, I'm in a debian etch box, I've installed virtualbox 1.6.2 with several guest OS and everything works fine except my usb support, I can't access to my usb stick, here are the steps that I tried to configure it:

0. I've plugged my usb stick
1. select any of my guest os virtual machine
2. click on the "usb" option
3. I've checked the first 2 options: "enable usb controller", "enable usb 2.0 controller"
4. Then I use the button "Add filter from device"
5. From that list i've chosen my usb stick "kingston Data traveler 2.0"
6. OK to the changes and that's it
7. Run into my guest os VM
8. I tried to use my usb stick and I got the next:
In windows: is just able the fd and cdrom (those devices are enable from the VirtualBox configuration menu) Also I got the same in Puppy Linux Dingo, when I tried to mount the devices my usb stick didn't in the list

So, what am I missing? what else I've to tweak?

Regards

Herbert

Please see the VirtualBox FAQ for USB issues. The Wiki that is mentioned there, is the one in my signature. You can also find ways to enable USB support for VB on your distro forum. The Ubuntu method in the wiki (and also mentioned here on the forums several times) should suffice.

Checking the help there is a chapter to usb issues, so, I just have to add this line to my fstab:

none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=122,devmode=666 0 0

Then i rebooted my system and my usb stick is working, thanks for all
