[Solved] Neither flash drive nor Fujitsu Scanner detected in VBox

I have reinstalled Mojave and tried Vbox 6.0 but it doesn't seem to work as the Box Extension won't install. So I've reverted to VBox 5.2.22 and successfully installed the Box Extension. It can't see my scanner, the software for which is only compatible with Windows XP, hence my need for Virtual Box in the first place.
Flash Drive:
Previously using version 5.01.10 I was able to transfer files created in Windows XP by ejecting my flash drive before starting VBox, removing it and connecting it again after starting VBox.
In VM Settings I have the following:
Ports/USB
Enable USB Controller ticked
USB Device Filters:
USB 3 (xHC) Controller ticked
USB Device filters:
San Disk Cruzer Blade ticked
When PC is powered up driver for San Disk is requested but can't be found, probably because the flash drive can't be 'seen's it is still open in MacOS.

What does that even mean? Why it won't install? Any errors? Anything?
BTW, it's called the Extension Pack, or ExtPack for short...

Now that I have at last managed to install VB 6 with its Extension pack I have found the VBox log. I hope this is the what you need and that you will be able to let me have an 'idiot's guide. Whilst I am reasonably savvy when it comes to Apple devices I am at sea with VBox. All I can say is that, when it works, it is amazing although I haven't a clue how it works! I have tried to find answers in the VBox Manual, so far without success.
In Ports/USB 'Enable USB Controller' is ticked and USB 3.0 (xHC) Controller button is on
In USB filters the flash drive is designated as 'SanDisk Cruzer Blade [0102]' and Fujitsu, Ltd fi-4220C2 [0100] Presumably the numbers refer to the USB ports to which they are attached. Both are ticked in USB Device Filters.

XP has no native support for USB3, that probably explains some of your problems at least.

Thanks. So which of the other 2 options should I select?

USB2 of course, or install the Renesas USB3 drivers in the guest:
USB 3.0 support in XP guests.
You should read the more detailed FAQ:

Many thanks. Only remaining question is what, if any, would be the advantage of installing the Rebesas USB3 drivers?

Installing the USB3 drivers would allow you to use USB3 devices with that guest. Whether that is useful to you or not, only you can say for sure.
One thing to understand: if it's a USB3 device and you plug it into a USB3 port on the host, then it works in USB3 mode and the VM must support USB3 in order to use it. To force a USB3 device to operate in USB2 mode you must plug it into a host USB2 port, or into a USB2 hub plugged into a host USB3 port.
