Has anyone managed to make this work? I can find plenty of images, but none that allow nothing but stand alone usage. Ideally with NETBUI would be good

NetBEUI? What else are you running which still uses that?

From a network point of view, I would expect 3.11 WfW would be a better bet than the standard 3.1 .
