I have installed Virtualbox (the non OSS version) on my openSUSE 11 laptop. When I try to start it I get a box that pops up that says:
VirtualBox - Critical Error.
Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.
The application will now terminate.
Callee RC: 0x80040154
I have un-installed and re-installed VirtualBox a couple of time to no avail. Any ideas what I need to look for to get this running?
Virtualbox will not start

"try starting the VirtualBox COM server (the program VBoxSVC in the VirtualBox program folder) from a command prompt or a DOS box. You may be able to see what is going wrong from error messages when the server starts"
"The solution is simple - you just have to delete the directory ".VirtualBox" in your home directory. "
"1. Uninstall all virtualbox packages (synaptic, search for "virtualbox")
2. After the uninstallation, delete folder named ".VirtualBox" by open nautilus, View-> show hidden files, then delete the folder.
3. Reinstall VirtualBox through Synaptic again. You should be fine."
And so on and so forth...

Artships, he isn't useing the OSE version, but the PUEL/Binary version from the website. So installing it from the package manager is not a good idea. Your google link was kind of helpful, but next time, use this site as a reference.
Aribad, see the 'improved' Google Search query: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl ... tnG=Search
It's even stated in the User FAQ on the main site. Usually, a reinstall of the package should work. See the other links on my Google link for any additional help.
